Regional seminar "Biogas as fuel for buses in the Norvegian cities" 9th of November 2011, Gardemoen, Radisson Blu Airport Hotel, Norway

The regional seminar of the European project Baltic Biogas Bus took place on 9th of November 2011 at Radisson Blu Airport Hotel, Gardemoen, Norway. The seminar was organised by the Baltic Biogas Bus project and Norsk Gassforum and it attracted around 60 participants.

A number of places in Norway, the natural gas is used as fuel for vehicles, mainly for heavy vehicles. Ole Jorgen Hanssen informed about the various raw materials for production of biogas, production methods and the availability of biogas in Norway.

A number of studies shows that biogas is the most climate-and environment-friendly fuel available. Biogas emit less CO2/km, emitting virtually no particles and very small amounts of NOx. Audun Aspelund briefed us on the climate and environmental impact of biogas as a fuel compared to other fuels.

Baltic Biogas Bus project is an environmental project for the buses in public transport. Lennart Hallgren presented the project in the EU's climate strategy and briefed us on the results obtained in the project to date. He explained also how the strategies planned for the introduction of biogas in a new region.

Gas buses are constantly improved. Jan-Helge Sandvåg informed about the different types of gas buses that are available on the Norwegian market and what we can expect in the future.
