The latest regional seminar within the Baltic Biogas Bus project was hosted by the city of Tartu on the 14th of August. More than a dozen speakers gave presentations, mainly regarding use of biogas in bus operations.

Apart from speakers who participate directly in the BBB-project, there were representatives from the biogas production and transport sector from both Estonia and Finland. Also decision makers at regional and national level participated, describing their view of how to use biogas in the future. The speakers all agreed that biogas can make an important contribution to the transport sector and that the potential should be fully exploited.

Estonia and especially Tartu has made progress during the last couple of years with regards to using biogas in public transport. Studies show that biogas is feasible as fuel for transport and it will eventually substitute natural gas in city buses.
